As I have watched the republican party become more and more rabid since the GW Gush/ Dick Cheney years I am convinced that if they were ever to regain control of the senate and the house of representatives at the same time, they would make such a mess of this country that it will never be straightened out. the last time they had total control they gerrymandered enough districts in the country that they thought they had permanent o the house. Next they stacked all of the district and appeals courts that thy could around the country so that they would win all political arguments whether correct or not. And as if that wasn't good enough, they stacked the US Supreme Court with right wing, corporate justices so that even if some cases were lost on the appeals level or district level, they would still win in the supreme court. They have already won time and time again on the voter suppression conflict. We see right wing justices overruling all other justices, giving conservatives everything they want, disenfranchising millions of voters in the process. They believe that they have thought of everything.
And now if they take over the senate, they'll have a plan to permanently control that part of government also. That plan would likely entail completely getting rid of the filibuster to where it would take a simple majority to pass any legislation whatsoever. If you think this is in ay way an unlikely idea, just look at how they run the states they control with an iron fist; no worker rights, no health care, stripped away tax base, tax breaks to corporations and zillionaires. So when they take over the US Senate, corporations will control the whole country. If you like it on a states scales, then you'll surely love it on a national scale!
